Brightness of the sun

I discovered the brightness of the sun the first time I visited Bali, this beautiful and ethereal place they call ‘the island of God’. Why is that so? Because when you visit this island, the warm smile of God radiates from the countenance of the Balinese people.

This young woman though, Putu, I met in Budapest as she was teaching a Balinese dance course to lovers of Bali at the Indonesian Embassy. While I don’t believe I could ever dance like Balinese women who start learning these beautiful traditional dances at an early age, her kindness, enthusiasm and encouragement showed me the unique and highly expressive nature of this dance, every movement and gesture of which opens up new worlds.
