The sea, the conquerer. It heals the soul, it quiets the mind. It awakens the feelings, it purifies the moment.
J.K. Rowling used to teach English in Porto. She frequently visited Cafe Majestic on Santa Caterina, Porto’s favorite shopping street. They say that she would scribble her notes on napkins here and even that she finished her first Harry Potter book at this cafe. Of course, tourists nowadays line up in front to be able to soak in the atmosphere of Cafe Majestic.
I confess: I have fallen for roasted chestnuts. Here in Porto you can buy them in the street (I have been, every evening). As you walk, you can see the smoke of the roasting carts from far away. You get about 15 chestnuts and the sellers put them in double paper bags (attached to each other) so as you walk in the street and eat these delicious warm nuts, you can throw the shells in the other bag. Really practical.
