It is the first day of the Baha’i fast and it is always nice to think of my friends around the world who all join in this outwardly physical “exercise”.
At the beginning of the fast I get the sense of standing in front of a big, yet unknown mountain, having to climb its peak and in 19 days walk down the other side in a meadow full of flowers and sunshine.
As I stand in front of my mountain, I realize I don’t have to climb it all in one go. With daily effort, concentration and an open heart I can conquer myself and even enjoy the challenge if I let go of the thought how difficult the journey must be.
