I love my “rétes”/strudel. Curd/túròs is the best and of course, let’s not forget poppyseed/mákos. But I wouldn’t turn down one with apple, plum or sour cherry either😋
My bestest of friends at any celebration, but especially at Christmas, is the Hungarian “mézes krémes”, honey cream cake. While it is not a fancy-looking cake, it speaks volumes when it comes to gorgeous flavours. It consists of four layers of honeybread and the two thick layers of cooked butter cream embrace a layer of heavenly apricot jam.
