Without words

An elderly couple was sitting by the river, enjoying the morning sun and the captivating views of Buda from Pest. I loved this view, they looked perfect having grown old together.I couldn’t help walking up to them to tell them how beautiful they were. But it turned out they were tourists, they didn’t speak Hungarian, nor English though. They were from Germany and they were looking at me wondering what I wanted to say. So I quickly dug up my basic German to tell them they looked “wunderbar”!
They both smiled and with a broken English thanked me. I so much wanted their photograph but I also felt obliged to leave them alone in their privacy. I felt genuinely touched by this experience as I walked away… but I needed to capture this memory to also share with you all.
Seeing these two souls, so much in harmony, with so many experiences behind them, reminded me of a beautiful quote from ‘Abdu’l-Baha:
“If I love you, I need not continually speak of my love—you will know without any words.”
